Where is PestOz based and which areas do you service?
PestOz is a family-owned pest control company based in Bondi, servicing homes and businesses across Sydney with particular strength in the Eastern Suburbs. We regularly treat properties in Bondi, Bondi Junction, Bronte, Tamarama, Coogee, Clovelly, Randwick, Maroubra, Vaucluse, Bellevue Hill, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Paddington, Woollahra, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills. We have kept local homes, cafes and strata buildings pest-free for over 15 years.
Is PestOz licensed and insured?
Yes. PestOz is a fully licensed and insured pest management business, and our technicians are licensed pest control operators. We also hold CM3 certification and are Trades Monitor registered and SMATA members, which are the accreditations required to work on commercial and strata sites across Sydney. Being licensed and insured means you are covered and the work is carried out to Australian standards.
How do I book a pest treatment or get a quote?
You can book a treatment or request a free, no-obligation quote by calling PestOz on 0403 192 894 or (02) 8084 5310, or by emailing [email protected]. Most jobs can be booked within the same week and often the same day, and there is no call-out charge just to give you a price. Tell us the pest, the property and where you have seen activity, and we will give you a straight answer and a fair quote.
Is there a warranty or guarantee on your pest control?
No pest control treatment can promise pests will never return, so our focus is long-term prevention and control. Our general treatments come with a 3 month warranty. If pest activity returns within that period and the treatment conditions have been met, we will return to inspect and re-treat if required.
Cost, results and what to expect
What pest control costs, how long it takes to work, and what is normal in the days after your treatment.
How much does pest control cost in Sydney?
The cost of pest control depends on the type of pest, the size and layout of the property, and how established the problem is. A general residential treatment is priced differently to a termite inspection, a bed bug job or an ongoing commercial contract. PestOz provides free, no-obligation quotes so you know the price before any work begins, with no call-out fee just to get a quote.
What should I expect after a pest control treatment?
It is normal to keep seeing some pest activity for a short period after treatment. Depending on the pest type and the products used, pests need to come into contact with the treatment before they are affected. In the first few days you may notice increased activity as pests move through treated areas, then dead pests appearing over the following days, then a gradual reduction in activity over one to three weeks (timing can vary). For the best result, allow the treatment time to work, follow any preparation or aftercare instructions we provide, and reduce food and water sources where you can.
How long does pest control take to work?
Most general pest treatments take full effect over one to three weeks, though the exact timing depends on the pest and the products used. Pests need to come into contact with the treatment before they are affected, so you may see activity in the first few days followed by a steady decline. If activity has not clearly reduced after a few weeks, contact us and we will assess whether a follow-up visit is needed.
Do I need to leave my home during the treatment?
For most general treatments you do not need to leave your home for long. Your technician will tell you if any areas need to be kept clear and when treated surfaces are safe to touch. For some jobs, such as fumigation or heavier flea treatments, a short period out of the house may be recommended, and we will always let you know in advance so you can plan around it.
How should I prepare for a pest treatment?
A little preparation helps the treatment work better. Where possible, clear access to skirting boards, kitchen benches and the areas where you have seen activity, put away food, dishes and pet bowls, and vacuum floors before the visit. Your technician will give you any specific preparation or aftercare instructions for your particular treatment when they arrive.
Safety for your family, pets and home
How PestOz keeps treatments safe for the people, pets and environment around your property.
Is pest control safe for children and pets?
Yes, when it is applied correctly by a licensed technician. PestOz uses professional products at controlled rates and places baits and treatments in areas away from children and pets wherever possible. As a simple precaution we ask that children and pets stay off treated surfaces until they are dry, and your technician will explain any specific safety steps for your treatment before leaving.
Are your treatments safe for the environment?
We keep environmental impact to a minimum by using targeted, professionally applied products and only treating where treatment is actually needed. Baits and gels in particular focus the product on the pest rather than spreading it across your home or garden. Our technicians are trained in the safe handling, storage and application of every product we use.
Termites and termite inspections
The signs to watch for, how often to inspect, and how to protect a Sydney home from Australia's most damaging pest.
How do I know if I have termites?
Common signs of termites include mud tunnels on walls or foundations, timber that sounds hollow when tapped, doors or windows that suddenly stick, and small piles of what looks like sawdust or discarded wings. Termites often work silently inside walls and skirting boards, so damage can be well advanced before it is visible. If you notice any of these signs, book a professional inspection and avoid disturbing the area, as disturbing termites can make them harder to treat.
How often should I get a termite inspection?
The Australian Standard (AS 3660) and CSIRO recommend a professional termite inspection at least once every 12 months, and more often for higher-risk properties. Many Eastern Suburbs homes are older timber constructions close to coastal moisture, which raises the risk, so an annual inspection is a sensible baseline. Regular inspections catch activity early, before it turns into costly structural damage.
What is a pre-construction termite barrier?
A pre-construction termite barrier is a termite management system installed during the building process, around and under the slab and framing before the home is finished. It creates a protective zone that stops subterranean termites entering the structure through the ground. PestOz installs pre-construction barriers for builders and owners across Sydney so new homes and extensions are protected from day one.
Are termites a problem in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs?
Yes. Subterranean termites are active right across Sydney, including the Eastern Suburbs, where older timber homes, coastal moisture and established gardens create ideal conditions. Termites cause more damage to Australian homes each year than fire, storms and floods combined, and that damage is generally not covered by standard home insurance. An annual inspection is the most reliable way to stay ahead of them.
Common Sydney pests
Rodents, cockroaches, bed bugs, spiders and more. What drives them and how they are best controlled.
Why do I get rats and mice in winter?
Rodents move indoors as the weather cools, looking for warmth, food and shelter, which makes rats and mice more of a winter pest than a summer one. They nest in roof voids, wall cavities and subfloors, and can chew wiring and contaminate food. The most effective approach combines removing the current population with sealing the entry points they use to get inside, so they cannot simply return.
How do I get rid of German cockroaches?
German cockroaches are best controlled with targeted gel baits and treatment applied to the areas where they harbour, usually kitchens, appliances and bathrooms. They breed quickly and live indoors year-round, so a one-off surface spray rarely solves the problem. Professional treatment breaks the breeding cycle, and keeping kitchens clean and dry between visits stops a new population taking hold.
Are bed bugs a sign of a dirty home?
No. Bed bugs are not a sign of poor hygiene, they are hitchhikers that travel in on luggage, second-hand furniture and clothing, so any home, hotel or rental can get them. They have no seasonal pattern and are often picked up through travel. Because they hide in mattress seams, bed frames and skirting boards, complete removal usually needs professional treatment rather than DIY sprays.
When are spiders, wasps and mosquitoes a problem in Sydney?
Spiders, wasps and mosquitoes are most active in the warmer months from spring through to autumn, although redback and other spiders can be found around Sydney homes year-round. Wasp nests tend to appear in eaves, gardens and roof spaces over summer, and mosquitoes increase wherever there is standing water. A perimeter treatment around the home keeps these seasonal pests under control.
Commercial, strata and hospitality
PestOz is trusted by leading Sydney property, strata and hospitality groups. Here is how commercial pest control works.
Do you provide commercial pest control?
Yes. PestOz provides commercial pest control across Sydney and is trusted by leading property and facilities managers including JLL, CBRE, Knight Frank and Solotel. We service offices, retail, warehouses, hospitality venues and strata buildings, schedule treatments around your operating hours, and provide the documentation needed for compliance and audits. As a licensed and CM3-certified contractor we meet the standards required for commercial sites.
Do you work with strata and body corporates?
Yes. PestOz works with strata managers and body corporates throughout Sydney, including Waratah Strata, Netstrata and Jamesons. We handle common-area treatments, individual unit issues and building-wide programs, and provide the reporting and compliance paperwork strata managers need. As SMATA members we meet the accreditation standards required for strata work.
Can you service restaurants, cafes and pubs?
Yes. PestOz provides pest control for hospitality venues across Sydney, including major groups such as Solotel. We understand the food-safety obligations that come with kitchens and dining areas, use discreet low-odour treatments, and schedule around service so your venue keeps running. Full documentation is provided to support your food-safety and audit requirements.
How often should a commercial property be treated?
Most commercial properties are best protected with regular scheduled treatments, typically monthly or quarterly depending on the industry, building and pest pressure. Food premises, hospitality and sites near parkland or water usually need more frequent visits, while lower-risk offices can often stay protected with quarterly service. PestOz will recommend a schedule based on your site and provide the documentation needed for compliance.
